I've been informed that the University has finally found my contract renewal form. My contract is year to year and so each year my boss has to tell the university to renew it (or, eek, to not!) and the university then has to sign off.
And as anyone familiar with the inner workings of the University knows, there is only 1 person who can do any one specific thing. And usually when you need that done, they are on vacation. Well, I didn't have the vacation issue, I had the "form is lost" issue. But apparently Captain Obvious is on my side today for the University found my form! And where was it? In the office of the person who has to sign it, hiding away in a folder labeled "things to sign". I may be exaggerating, but only by a smidgen. So now the form is on its way to being signed. It's about time!
Luckily for me the University has continued to pay me, despite my contract expiring at the end of January. That's right. My form has been hiding in that "things to sign" folder for 6 months. And of course, linked to that form is a "cost of living pay increase." It's small I know, but when I proposed to NSTAR 6 months ago that I would delay paying them any increase until I got my increase, things suddenly got dark and cold.
